Service Levels

This document evaluates the service availability using a DragonWave AirPair wireless system. This is compared to the service availability of a fiber optic link. Additionally, protection options, and other attributes, such as latency and security will be discussed.

Rain & Fog

This paper is intended to illustrate that the predominant propagation impairment is due to rain fall and that the effects of fog are relatively small in comparison. In addition, this paper will explore how the effects of rain can be engineered against, in order to provide a high availability wireless link.

TDM Jitter

This technical white paper outlines the operation of the APX-104 TDM-over-Ethernet (TDMoE) multiplexer when used in conjunction with AirPair wireless Ethernet (REL 3) and/or layer-2 Ethernet switching in multi-hop network configurations.

MTBF

This document provides details of failure rate prediction work performed by DragonWave, Inc. It includes the scope of the work, the assumptions, and a results summary along with detailed results information.

Licensing

FCC Pt2Pt licensing provides maximal reuse of channel frequencies in the microwave bands whilst providing protection of interference from geographically adjacent users of the spectrum.

Applications

Cellular Backhaul - AirPair used in conjunction with the APX, a 4 port T1/E1 over Ethernet mux, delivers an ideal solution not only increasing TDM network capacity to the base station but presenting a high speed native IP bandwidth capacity to leverage high value packet based service offerings.

Applications

DSL Backhaul - Early DSL deployments, which originally used copper for backhaul requirements are now running out of capacity, or do not provide adequate service levels. Both of these applications require a high-speed reliable backhaul solution, which can extend existing infrastructure.

Applications

Municipality, School and Hospital Markets (MSH) - Projects range from Municipality connectivity such as City Hall to satellite locations, to Emergency Service Networks, Inter-Hospital communication, and School Board build outs. To facilitate these deployments, the DragonWave AirPair provides an ultra low latency, high availability, native Ethernet solution with scalability from 10 Mbps to 200 Mbps.

Application

Last-Mile Fiber Extension - With the greatest demand for broadband services coming from within the core metro markets, AirPair presents an ideal complementary networking solution to rapidly extend high speed IP services from locations that are already attached to the service provider’s network.

Application

Enterprise/Campus/Private Networks - The private customer market in attempts to trim expenses and enhance communications capabilities continuously seeks new vehicles to improve efficiencies. With high speed service not available in many regions or commanding very high tariffs AirPair offers a tremendous advantage to both own and control the networking technology.

Application

Leased Line Replacement - Using DragonWave’s APX-104 quad T1/E1 solution deployed over a high speed wireless connection not only improves the overall business case but provide a complete managed view of the service interface. For customer requirements that demand a high volume to TDM circuit extension up to 64 T1/E1’s can be extended over a single AirPair link.

Application

WiMax and Multi-Point Backhaul - With the emergence of the WiMAX standard, multipoint wireless systems are becoming a viable option for last-mile access. This solution is being considered as a competitive offering to residential DSL, as well as an enterprise solution for private line Ethernet and TDM services below 5-10 Mbps.
